Christian Artmann plays a variety of domestic and exotic flutes with his team of Laszlo Gardony /p, John Lockwood/b, Yoron Israel/dr and guest vocalist Elena McEntire for a collection of mostly originals. His alto flute is elegant on “Sow River” and the graceful “Nine Years of Love” while the West African tambin gives a meditative mood to “Lament For Ukraine”. The upbeat “If I Must Go” Includes the leader on whistle, and Ms. McEntire’s vocals are open on this tune, and she’s fragrant on the cadence of “The Middle Of Life”. Soft passions.
