Artmann’s new CD “Fields of Pannonia” (Sunnyside Records, 2015) follows on his critically acclaimed debut album “Uneasy Dreams” (2011) and features all original music, with influences ranging from Bach over 20th century classical music to Wayne Shorter. Joining him on his latest offering are long-time associates Gregg Kallor on piano, Johannes Weidenmueller on bass and Jeff Hirshfield on drums. The music on “Fields of Pannonia” is firmly rooted in contemporary jazz but has a distinct European or even global “accent”. The title is a dedication to Artmann’s musical roots, the rich cultural and musical crossroads of Central-Eastern Europe.
